Topic: Whats the greatest recent innovation on Linux distros ?

Which ones do you guys considder the biggest recent innovations.

Ksplice, the ability to patch code without ever rebooting.
randr + KMS + Wayland rearranging the display system , not sure theres much innovation here beside the ability to run nested accelerated xorg servers, but we have sure come a long way since the old X

SELinux + rsbac + pax  , Linux security , will MAC ever be easy to use ?

Compiz + friends, 2.5D userinterfaces , seems like the development have slowed down here, although it made for some awesome tech demos.

This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time... ...On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Re: Whats the greatest recent innovation on Linux distros ?

my latest favourite is abrt . (i'm not talking about technology behind it, but the concept that the end user with 0 programming experience can submit a qualified bug report, unlike the msft's meaningless junk)

now if only they'd remove this retarded mandatory bugzilla registration... i could have registered about 5 bugs per day  big_smile 3 of them would be in pulse and friends  lol

mental note to self: get an account & stop bitching at the forums...
